The services of „tutoring for students“ (and this is a special type of tutoring) cost

Summer is the time when you can without haste and damage to the rest of the school

disciplines to pull up the child in the necessary subjects. School teachers, for moderate

those who studied with students during the school year are about to leave

relax. Parental strength and knowledge will only be enough for classes with students

primary classes, the rest will need a tutor for the summer. You need to search for him

Primary school students need to be taught throughout the summer. Special

seriously – with first graders.

– Even if the child has mastered the material well, by the beginning of the next school year

many skills are lost – for example, reading, writing, counting within 100; children

they completely forget the multiplication table, – says Olga Shuvalikova, teacher

primary grades of Moscow school N 1279. – In September, the difference is very noticeable

between the disciples who spent all three months lounging with their grandmother in the village, and

those who repeated the past. Having good kids is enough during the holidays

read, write and solve crossword puzzles, and it would be good for those lagging behind to hire a tutor. IN

June is not worth making children study – let them rest. I advise you to search

a tutor, and necessarily from among professional teachers, for August.

There won’t be enough teachers from the native school for all the laggards, their hours are probably scheduled

for the whole summer. If you cannot find a suitable teacher through friends, you should

look for it in recruiting agencies.

– Tutors offering summer services are divided into four categories –

says Nadezhda Sumaneeva, director of the recruiting agency "Weather in the house"… –

First is "acting" teachers of Moscow schools, their services are the most

roads are also in demand. Secondly, these are teachers from other cities who come to

earnings. They are cheaper, but only provincials with

pure speech: the Ryazan dialect of Muscovites scares away. To the cheerful

graduates of pedagogical schools and universities are extremely wary of mothers

Losers – as opposed to dads. And the guard of retired educators,

actively offering themselves in the role of tutors and governesses, discourages both those and

others – by all accounts, they put too much pressure on children.

Services "tutors for students" (and this is a special type of tutoring) stand in

on average $ 10-15 per academic hour, classes can be individual or

group. A governess with a trip to the country, who can pull up a junior high school student,

with a five-day work week it will cost $ 400-500 per month. But not always help

educators turns out to be effective.

– Most often, parents of future parents complain about tutors and governesses.

first graders: they say, they could not properly prepare the child for school, –

continues Nadezhda Sumaneeva. – Complaints are mostly unfounded: if the parents

have not worked with the child for 6 years, correct the situation in two or three months

almost impossible.

It is much more difficult to close the gap among high school students, especially in

foreign language.

– 6-7-graders and older schoolchildren who are lagging behind in a foreign language should

be sure to hire a tutor – parents, most likely, will not be able to help them, –

advises Natalia Kropacheva, head teacher of one of the Moscow schools with advanced

learning foreign languages. – The fact is that they studied from other textbooks

and do not have the communicative language skills that modern

program. By the way, graduates who have to take the unified state exam

will also have to deal with additionally: with the international format of language

assignments provided for by the exam (listening, working with text, writing a postcard

and a personal letter), our students are practically unfamiliar. Nice alternative

lessons with a tutor – rest in an international language camp.

Some parents fall into a pedagogical fervor in the summer and begin to cram themselves

knowledge in a child, but rarely achieve positive results.

– For an effective learning process, an optimal distance between

teacher and student, – explains Konstantin Surnov, candidate of psychological

sciences. – It is very difficult to maintain such a distance with your own child. Besides

if a parent is not a professional teacher, it is unlikely that he can

feel the moment when the child needs to be asked again, when to encourage, when

let me think. Therefore, parenting lessons are not as effective as lessons with

Three school subjects at once – labor, life safety and informatics will disappear from the schedule

Three school subjects at once – labor, the basics of life safety

(OBZH) and computer science – will disappear from the high school students‘ schedule in the fall of 2003.

But Mitrofanushki too early to rejoice: the number of lessons from this will not be reduced,

they will be redistributed – in Russian schools, a specialized

Profiling will take place gradually – starting in 2003. And by 2005

all senior classes are planned to be specialized. Depending on preference

students will be assigned to humanitarian, natural and mathematical,

socio-economic and information technology classes. Besides the basic

course (it includes a minimum of subjects compulsory for all) in each

the profile will have its own set of disciplines. Their final exams have also been defined. Common

there will be two – Russian and algebra, three others – at the student’s choice.

Teach "profiles" will become teachers who have undergone special retraining in

pedagogical universities. The Ministry of Education believes that the profiling of high school

will allow graduates to enter the most prestigious universities without additional

lessons with tutors or preparatory courses – solid savings

time and parental money. The ninth grades will become pre-profile. Guys for

a year before high school, they will decide what to cram further.

The innovation will also affect the primary classes. Computer science will be taught from the second

year of school. True, only eight years, then – at the student’s choice. A

here with technology (labor) and life safety schoolchildren will part immediately after the ninth

class. For a transitional period (until 2005), a number of schools will continue to study

old programs – mainly in those with only one tenth grade.

There are, however, two thirds of such educational institutions in Russia – more than 45 thousand.

TITLE: Illegal Experiment in Education

Once again about the disadvantages of the Unified State Exam

The unified state examination (USE) has been held in the country for the third year already. In 2003

about 600 thousand people in 48 constituent entities of the Russian Federation rent it. But the more

the scope of this "experiment", the more worrisome it is. Questions

a lot, judge for yourself.

The metaphorical nature of the name of the exam. The first letter in the USE abbreviation means that

there should be a unified form of checking the preparedness of school graduates and

simultaneously applicants from different universities. But ask any university

a teacher – is it possible to qualitatively assess a single method (single content)

knowledge of ordinary school graduates and excellent students, applicants of leading universities? No!

The Russian government believes that it is possible. Then what are the arguments?

Such questions are asked not only by scientists, but also by public figures. For example,

Oleg Smolin, a member of the Committee on Science and Education of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, notes: "According to the exam, we

still have not received documents that would contain clear answers to a number of

emerging questions: what to do with tests in the humanities? Will keep

graduate right to make mistakes? Will it not decrease, as it happened in Kazakhstan,

the number of free places in vocational schools due to the fact that

Are too few high school graduates getting the points they need for admission?"

Another reason for doubts is the undemocratic nature of the USE. It cannot be

state, as indicated by the second letter in the abbreviation. If only because

that no democratically oriented state has the right to erect

barriers to their citizens. This is prohibited by the UNESCO Convention against

discrimination in education (Paris, December 14, 1960). Russia

ratified it and thereby assumed the obligation: not to close

any person or group of persons access to education of any level or type; not

restrict the education of any person or group of persons; provide equal for

all access to education. Shouldn’t this convention already be followed?
